Description
The lemon decoration follows the belly of the jug and stops at the handle, which is left in a flat colour. That is not laziness: a pattern cut in half by a handle reads badly, and a plain handle acts as a pause.
The spout is the only part that is judged by using it rather than looking at it. A handsome jug that drips stays on the shelf, so the spout is tested with water before glazing.
