Description
Black and white, chequered bands and rosettes: no colour, no flowers. This is the line that works where the rest of Tuscan ceramics would jar — in a modern house with little colour on the walls.
Black is the pigment that asks for the surest hand: every line stays in view, crisp, with no dense pattern around it. This is where the precision of the brush can be read. The chequerwork is painted square by square, by hand, and looking closely you can see that no square is identical to its neighbour.
