Description
The shape of an orcio: a wide belly, a narrow neck, a lid with a knob. The decoration runs all the way round without a break, with a white scroll at the centre left free for a name or a date, if you want one painted in.
The lid is fired together with the body but resting on it, not fitted into it: ceramic shrinks in the kiln, and a lid made to fit tightly comes out no longer fitting at all. The small amount of play you feel when you lift it is deliberate.
